modular building institute award of distinction: education - first place
This preschool on a small site in a dense mid-city neighborhood is comprised of prefabricated modules oriented to form a protected and light-filled campus. The buildings were customized with large windows, cement fiber siding and a vibrant color scheme, and organized to allow for an open, free flow of interior space.
This infill project on the site of a former parking lot in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles was able to be built quickly and economically, and provide an urban oasis for early childhood development to St. James' School and Church.
